Meditation for Anxiety
"I discovered meditation because I was experiencing an extremely uncomfortable Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Meditation allowed a stillness from the relentless spiral of negative thinking and gave my overactive mind well deserved downtime. Over time it completely cut through my anxiety reducing the level of discomfort from a 9/10 to 2/10."

How meditation can help you
Meditation is an incredibly empowering technique to help you manage your anxiety. Although it won't take away the source of your anxiety, it will change the way you react to it by allowing the mind and body to enter into the rest & digest mode (or parasympathetic nervous system) each time you meditate. By coming out of fight or flight (the sympathetic nervous system) for short periods of time each day, you recalibrate your nervous system and switch off the constant red alert mode allowing your amygdala to calm.
Studies have show that during meditation our brain wave patterns switch to alpha waves which are activated during times of deep relaxation. This causes heart rate to lower, cortisol and adrenalin production to reduce, blood pressure to fall and gives the mind and the body space to calm. And over time, your nervous system will rebalance, settle and significantly reduce your levels of anxiety.
